This African proverb epitomizes my philosophy of cooperation and teamwork. It is hard to achieve great success if one does everything oneself.
The creation of a high-performing team is a joy to be a part of.
The challenge is that many leaders inherit teams and do not always understand how teams work and may struggle to build a genuinely strong team.
My approach is to support leaders to be able to identify their team’s key development opportunities, to understand their natural strengths and weaknesses and put in place a development strategy that is fully grounded in working on actual live issues.
Teams truly benefit from increasing their behavioural and conversational intelligence – using tools such as Conversational Intelligence (C-IQ), Emotional Intelligence (EQ-i 2.0), leadership and 360 multi-rater reports in the context of their coaching.
During these sessions, I act as a neutral and unbiased mirror for behaviours that are impeding, or indeed, encouraging growth within the team. This is an incredibly powerful process that can unlock a team’s aspirations and activate higher levels of performance.
Teams really matter to organisations. When they fail it hurts every aspect of the organisation from its people to bottom line profits.
